Worcester Area Community Choir

Led by composer, guitarist Jim Scott, the choir will sing a wide variety of styles of choral music from rounds and chants to classical, jazz, world folk music from many cultures as well as contemporary pop music that celebrates ideals of community, diversity, ecology and peace.

The non-audition choir espouses no particular religious affiliation, but the music will draw from many spiritual traditions.  With some written notes to help, the music will primarily be taught in the "by ear" and "gospel" fashion of simple imitation.  Some time may be spent on learning to understand and sing from written notes, as well as shaping the vocal sound of the ensemble, but the emphasis is on singing for fun and health. 

Choir rehearsals will start on Tues. Feb. 9th and run Tuesdays 7 to 9 PM at Wesley United Methodist Church, 114 Main St. in Worcester, for a 10-week term, working toward performing (when ready) for events such as Earth Day and for local community celebrations.  A $50 membership fee will contribute to 10 rehearsals and a notebook of choir music.
